Flip the Coin, Own your Fire

Flip the Coin, Own your Fire

Did you make resolutions on New Year’s? I will be honest, I hate resolutions. Yes…hate. The originality of the idea is grand and nostalgic but it has turned into a catalyst for negative emotional returns from deep depression to just simply not feeling good enough.

But I like to help my clients escape the antiquity and trivial essence of it in the form of questions. Because deep down inside you always know the answer to your emotional questions and prompts to make a choice.

Yes, always.

Don’t believe me? The next time you can’t make up your mind about something, assign a choice to each side of a coin and flip it. If you are really in alignment with your true desires and aren’t playing employee in your own life, allowing others to assign your actions and feelings, the answer is the the one you so desperately want the coin to land on as it flips in the air. The choice you get excited about. The choice you know will bring joy, peace, fulfillment or maybe just a trip to Wendy’s over Chick_Fil-A.

So for those of you that are ready to focus on accomplishments over goals, I ask you this… “What is the spark?”

Before you begin to accomplish something , you need to know what actually sparks the desire and this is very different than a goal. You should asses why you want to accomplish this and what you feel it will bring to your life. You want to lose weight? Why? Most of you will say to be healthier. And while that may be true, let’s dig deeper. Do you want to be healthier or do you want to feel better? Flip the coin! Do you want to feel better or do you want to be able to walk and hike on your next travel adventure without gasping for air? Flip the coin. You want to start a business? You want to write a book? You want to start a charity? Keep flipping the coin.

The most important thing to remember is that you are usually basing your decisions on a need of acceptance or a fear of rejection. The spark can be fanned into a flame or even an inferno based on the validity of your reason, your “why” or it can be extinguished at the first sign of obstacles, hardships or negative reinforcement. Thus the reason resolutions all too often are extinguished within their infancy.

So now I want you to consider throwing the coin away, taking the time to do the work on your spark so that it becomes an eternal flame. You take the time for self development and introspect to learn how to keep the spark going on the days you don’t feel motivated. You realize that everyone else is making a lot of their decisions based on the fear of rejection as well and put your desires in the forefront. No it’s not selfish it’s self preservation, elevation and continuation. You create your own logs of patience, perseverance, strength and strategy to create an inferno of abundance and success in your life.

So here’s to the spark and creating an inferno of success!
